Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Tanger (SKT) is a U.S.-based real estate investment trust that owns andoperates43retailoutletcentersintheU.S. and Canada. Tanger has a leading position in outlet centers alongside Simon Property Group's Chelsea subsidiary (together they control 80% of the outlet malls in the U.S.). The outlet business has been extremely strong over the past few years, as rental rates and occupancy trends have remained strong due to the value orientation offered by the distribution channel. Tanger's centers have averaged97%occupancyover the past five years and rental rates have grown over 15% annually. Tanger has led the retail sector in internal and external growth, due to their low occupancy cost ratios and high demand from tenants. To put it in perspective, most luxury retailers state that the outlet distribution channel is among their most profitable, and have expressed an interest to continue to expand this channel. Tanger has one of the strongest balance sheets in the retail sector (approximately 30% net debt-to-assets). It is run by a conservative and incentivized management team and has strong development growth prospects, as it continues to capitalize on the trend of consumers and retailers shifting to the outlet channel.

Nam Y. Huh/AP DALLAS -- If you use miles to get a free ticket on American Airlines, you may have to pay to check that suitcase. American and US Airways announced changes Tuesday to their policies on checked-bag fees and redeeming miles for free flights. Passengers traveling on American on miles they earned or who paid full price for an economy seat won't get free checked bags anymore. Some elite-level frequent fliers on both airlines will get one less free bag than before. When it comes to redeeming miles for free flights, US Airways is ending blackout days. American will change the number of miles to get an unrestricted free flight -- more on popular travel days, fewer on less-busy ones. And it's making an array of changes to the miles needed for international trips. Suzanne Rubin, an American Airlines vice president who oversees the AAdvantage loyalty program, said the changes will increase revenue but she declined to give a figure. The two carriers merged in December and formed American Airlines Group (AAL), and Tuesday's changes are designed to bring the policies of the two closer together. Between them, they have 110 million loyalty-program members, Rubin said. Other changes: For U.S. travel on or after June 1, American members can redeem miles for an unrestricted "AAnytime" award at 20,000 miles, 30,000 miles or 50,000 each way instead of the current 25,000-mile flat rate. The less-flexible "MileSAAver" awards will continue to start at 12,500 miles. Mid-tier elite members (platinum on American; gold and platinum on US Airways) will get two free checked bags; a reduction of one for the US Airways' Dividend Miles elites. Lower-level elites (gold on American; silver on US Airways) will get one free checked bag, a reduction from two for the American customers. Removing a charge for second checked bags on trips to South America. Rubin said the company wasn't considering charging a fee for carry-on bags, as Spirit Airlines (SAVE) does.

Scott Olson/Getty ImagesTravelers at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. American Airlines (AAL) has ended its bereavement fares, the discount offered to people who needed to fly immediately because of a loved one's death. That cold, callous, corporate decision -- which now aligns American's policy with that of its heartless merger partner, US Airways -- has unleashed the predictable gnashing of social media teeth. But it's not worth shedding a single tear for bereavement fares. Anyone shopping carefully -- a group that might not include mourners -- already knows that the "break" airlines offered the bereaved have been, at best, pathetic. A bereavement fare is typically just a small discount off the cost of a last-minute purchase, which are nearly always exorbitant. United (UAL) offers a 5 percent discount off a walk-up fare and wants to see a death certificate to ensure you're not lying. Delta's (DAL) price break varies -- which likely means it's influenced by seat inventory -- and applies only for immediate family members. (Delta, too, wants to verify the death.) Such paltry discounts mean little, especially when you're not debating whether to make the trip and just need a ticket procured quickly. "Five percent off a $900 fare isn't going to make that big of a difference to someone in an emotionally chaotic state," Rick Seaney, chief executive of FareCompare.com, told the Los Angeles Times. Exactly. I have a better idea: Go to the Internet. Many sites specialize in last-minute travel deals or fare bidding, such as Priceline (PCLN). If that's too much work at a fraught time, a travel agent can quickly handle the same chore. And one-way flights may make more sense, offering additional flexibility with an expensive purchase.

American Airlines Group Inc. (Nasdaq: AAL) depends somewhat more on cargo revenues. Fourth quarter cargo revenue rose 13.9% to $196 million and full-year revenues rose 1.4% to $685 million. The company was created by the merger of AMR Corp. and US Airways. Due to the merger, the full-year results include only about three weeks of December and primarily reflect cargo revenues at the old AMR.

The carrier won big when it picked up the lion share of the slots the new American Airlines (AAL) had to divest at Washington D.C. Regan airport. However, LUV is facing headwinds from its strategy shift to international, as well as growing pains from its AirTran integration this year.

Muriel Siebert, founder of Siebert Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: SIEB), passed away over the weekend. Many new investors may not know her nor may they know just how important and influential she was on Wall Street and in the financial services industries. Ms. Siebert died at the age of 80 years old, and we wanted to list some of her accomplishments that have led to at least more equality among women in what had been a men-only club before she came on the stage.

5 Best Managed Healthcare Stocks To Watch For 2014: Rex Energy Corporation(REXX)

Rex Energy Corporation operates as an independent oil and gas company in the Appalachian Basin and the Illinois Basin. It focuses on the Marcellus Shale drilling projects, and Utica Shale and Upper Devonian Shale exploration activities in the Appalachian Basin. The company also holds interests in the Lawrence Field ASP Flood project, which is an oil recovery project located in Lawrence County, Illinois. As of December 31, 2011, it operated approximately 2,117 wells, including approximately 517 disposal and injection wells. The company had estimated proved reserves of 366.2 billions of cubic feet equivalent. Rex Energy Corporation was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in State College, Pennsylvania.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By The Energy Report]

Onshore, my favorite play is the Utica Shale, in which my top plays are Gulfport Energy Corp. (GPOR) and Rex Energy Corp. (REXX). Both companies have highly economic acreage, solid balance sheets and industry-leading production growth. I also like Rex Energy for its likely production upside. Another one of my favorite plays is the Eagle Ford Shale, in which my top plays are Penn Virginia Corp. (PVA) and Sanchez Energy Corp. (SN). Both have core acreage in the region, improving operating results and experienced management. Another favorite name of mine is Midstates Petroleum Co. Inc. (MPO). The company has assets in three solid plays and a management team with a long successful track record. Those are my favorite names at this time.

  • [By Matt DiLallo]

The company has also shifted some of its attention to next-door neighbor Ohio's Utica Shale. It's not the only Marcellus driller to look to the higher profit potential in the liquids-rich Utica. Smaller drillers like Rex Energy (NASDAQ: REXX  ) are also looking west to the Utica in an effort to grow liquids production. The company reported positive results at three recently drilled wells at its Warrior South project. While all this attention is great for the Utica, Pennsylvania would rather have drillers investing that drilling capital within its borders to add more jobs and tax revenue.

  • [By Matt DiLallo]

These infrastructure additions are important for Gulfport Energy (NASDAQ: GPOR  ) which is pouring nearly all of its resources into developing the Utica's assets. If its wells provide the type of production it is expecting, this infrastructure build-out will prove critical to Gulfport's ability to deliver its product to market. The additions are also important for Rex Energy (NASDAQ: REXX  ) which is investing more than 30% of its more than $255 million 2013 capital budget to develop its acreage in the Utica.
